Children’s Representatives Overseas

Children’s Representatives plan and deliver a varied programme of activities providing a unique experience to children whilst on holiday. Create a stimulating, child friendly environment that is safe, clean and effectively managed to ensure the enjoyment for all children.

• Plan and adapt a programme of activities to suit varying needs, interests and abilities or children.
• Prepare for activities to ensure they run smoothly and motivate and inspire the children to participate.
• Ensure equipment and resources are maintained, cleaned and safe to use.
• Create a child friendly and positive environment with the use of displays.
• Establish rapport and positive relationships with children and carers.
• Provide guests with relevant information on transfers, excursions and at welcome meetings

A Children’s Rep works as part of a team to provide activities for children whilst on holiday. They will provide 2 hour activity sessions for specified age groups between the ages 3-12 years on a daily basis. They will also run some evening sessions and take part in a children’s disco. They must carry out health and safety checks and follow operational guidelines and procedures.
A monthly salary, flights and accommodation are provided. Full details will be given when applicants attend assessment day.
Children’s Representatives should:

• Be friendly and enthusiastic.
• Be able to use their initiative.
• Be flexible and enjoy new challenges.
• Be able to communicate effectively and present information clearly and accurately.
• Be independent and prepared to work abroad for a period of at least 6 months.

Children’s Representatives also require:

• A relevant Childcare Qualification (NVQ Level 2 or 3, NNEB or equivalent)
• Valid Paediatric First Aid Certificate

Individuals wishing to work as a Children’s Representative are required to attend an assessment day. Opportunities with Thomson are offered in winter after a successful summer. Career paths to roles such as Kidzone Rep in Charge, Childcare Co-ordinator and Kidzone Advisor are available.
